Truth and Trust in the Midst of Changing Circumstances

How have these past 21 months affected you?

We are defiantly in a time of great shifting, where agendas and perspectives may feel like they are actually being pushed upon us. A time where fear has gripped us and wants to continue to hold on.

Whatever your perspective is during these times, I think we all can agree that we are seeing exponential changes. Many definitions of things are changing, happening right before our eyes which can shake our sense of truth and what we put our trust in.

Are those changes “for the best”? Depends upon who you listen to. Some tell us it is best to change our perspectives, for the old ones do not work, for they have brought us to our current condition. Others say these changes are not for the best and lead to a loss of our autonomy and freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

The world has had and continues to have, as we currently see, conflicting information. The world, the “powers that be,” the agendas of billionaires, governments, corporations, religious & social institutions, the mindset of a culture and a generation, has always had conflicting perspectives on what is true, right, and good.

Regarding truth, it is my observation that this generation now has the loophole of using “my truth” as a workaround, which rationalizes accepting these “conflicting truths.” “Well, it is true for me.” All of these individual “truths” have changed truth to something subjective. Yet, what is truth? Is truth not objective? Should the truth be objective? I say yes, for truth is something that stands as true no matter one’s subjective perspective.

Now, when it comes to objective truth, worldly governments, agendas, and positions of power are pitching the idea that they can guide those of us with conflicting truths into a common truth, a common good. “If we all come to agree, then we can fix things.” And, we all need to “get on board.” Yet, what is the source of their truth that they are “guiding” us into?

In seeing these times, how is this affecting you? How is this impacting your life, your perspective?  Are you finding yourself challenged to change your mind to fit the current narrative? Do you find yourself without a firm foundation, varying according to “the norm” of our society? Are we compromising truth, changing our values? And, where is the source of actual objective truth anyway?

As believers in an Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth, who has come to us as Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, who live here in the United States; we are being challenged as never before.

Challenged to adapt to the world’s perspectives in the name of “tolerance” versus standing firm in the Truth and Values that we Know from our source of Truth, our Heavenly Father.

The world challenges us to be tolerant of others’ beliefs, perspectives, and truths or be labeled a bigot, among other things. Yet, where is the line between respecting and tolerating someone’s freedom of choice and accommodating the message that if it is your proclivity to _(fill in the blank)_, it’s ok.

Yup, it is true for them. It is true for them that they believe the definition of marriage is __(fill in the blank)__. It is true for them that sexuality is defined as _(fill in the blank)_. It is true for them that they think, feel and believe the way they do. Sure, it is true for them. Many things are true for me. Yet just because it is true for me or you, it doesn’t mean it is the Truth, let alone good.

If you have observed this world with its conflicting truths and find yourself being tossed to and fro, feeling like nothing is really true, therefore nothing is truly stable, that you’re having to always accommodate someone’s individual truth, which can make you feel, well, confused, frustrated, anxious and fearful, know that there is a Truth. A Truth that stands outside of persons, cultures, generations, governments, corporations, and agendas. Since this Truth stands outside of those things, it is objective; it doesn’t change due to a new perspective, definition, or the whims of individual “truths.” It is a Truth that is from a source, a character, that never changes. It is a Truth that can be trusted.

In the Word of God, He shares with us His character. One of His characters is that He never changes, “For I the Lord do not change; … “, Malachi 3:6. Another character of His is that He is Truth, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. … John 14:6. “…. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32.

If you want to have Truth, know Truth, have clarity in your life, a direction that is True in your life, a True foundation to stand on from which to guide your heart, mind, and life, then go to the source of Truth, God. Seek Him and His ways, His Words, and His teachings, then you will have a firm foundation, a knowing that you know, a peace beyond all understanding, and as the world and the circumstances of the world continue to wain to and fro, you will not for you will be standing upon the Rock; His Truth.

“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress; I will never be shaken.” Psalm 62:1.

Also, as believers, I believe it is so vital during these times of change, “shaking,” that we stand firm upon the Truths of God, not compromising to appease, yet speaking His truths in the Spirit of His love.

May you seek and receive the blessing and peace of Almighty God believing in His Son Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior who desires, more than we can comprehend, a deep and personal relationship with you.
